This is an old one I wrote in high school…
What is forever?
Is there just one set definition?
Or is it just something you have to figure out on your own?
Is it the time it takes to achieve perfection?
Or could it simply be the place you call home?
If you ask me, there are many forevers.
For one person, it could be the time it takes for high school to end.
While for someone else, it’s the time they spend with the ones they love.
What is your forever?
More importantly though,
How will you spend it?
Which people will you meet?
What memories will you make?
You tell me.
What is forever?
How to voice my frustration,
My complete and utter exasperation.
Can’t you see how wrong you are,
Going around, giving yourself scars?
If a guy even looks your way,
You assume he’s there to stay.
Don’t you know you’ll end up broken
When you’re handing out love like video game tokens?
There you go getting your hopes up again
Wearing your heart on a sleeve paper thin.
Haven’t you learned from your past mistakes?
Isn’t it time to give your heart a break?
Take time away for yourself now and then.
Hide boys on a shelf and just breathe in.
God has a plan that’s perfect for you.
So calm down, chill out, God will pull through.
How is it I’ve known him only a day,
And yet he seems perfect in every way?
We have the same taste in music and books.
One conversation, and you know I was hooked.
This boy he’s indescribable.
My attraction to him’s undeniable.
Our meeting was a matter of fate.
This boy, I wish I could date
He’s tall and dark and wonderful.
His spell over me is powerful.
He seems the perfect gentleman,
And values God above all man.
I’ve known this guy less than a week,
And yet his is the gaze I seek
As I walk across campus, to and from class,
Hoping our paths will once again pass.
This nameless boy, he’s on my mind.
He fills my life with sweet sunshine.
He’s the one for whom I’ve wished.
If only, his love, I could enlist.
For my friend, Alex, who likes a guy named Chip:
Gingers are cool
When they work at the pool.
Gingers are beautiful
With heads held high and hearts so full.
I love this guy, with hair so red.
His name is Chip, or so they’ve said.
I love this guy, a cool lifegaurd.
In his hands, he holds my heart.
I have this great, big bubble.
Try to cross and you’ll find trouble.
But for Chip, there’s no alarm.
I’d surely hold him in my arms.
This boy is perfect in everyway;
Tall, beautiful, and here to stay.
No longer, do I fear a man,
When Chip is there to hold my hand.
Gingers are really great.
With him and I it’s surely fate.
Gingers are really cool.
I love this guy, who works at the pool.
